Ingredients to prepare Chocolate sponge cake
- 1 natural yogurt (125 ml. / 4.22 fl. oz.)
- All-purpose flour (2 measures of the yogurt cup)
- Sugar (2 scoops of yogurt cup)
- Sunflower oil (1 scoop of yogurt cup)
- Cocoa powder (1 scoop of yogurt cup)
- 3 L-size eggs
- 1 sachet of baking powder (16 g.)
- Chocolate chips to taste
- Powdered sugar for decoration
How To Make Chocolate sponge cake
Step 1: We begin the preparation of our chocolate cake, for this, in a bowl and with the help of an electric mixer, add the eggs, sugar and beat for 5 minutes, then add the yogurt, oil and continue beating, then add the cocoa, flour, baking powder and continue mixing until everything is integrated, finally add the chocolate chips and mix again.
Step 2: In a buttered baking pan, add the chocolate cake mixture and bake for 35 to 40 minutes at 180 ºC / 356 °F (before removing from the oven, make sure the cake is done by inserting a toothpick in the center, if it comes out dry, the cake is ready, otherwise, let it cook for 5 more minutes).
Step 3: Remove our chocolate sponge cake from the oven and let it cool a little, sprinkle powdered sugar on top and enjoy.
Tips for preparing Chocolate sponge cake
To make this chocolate cake recipe, remember that the measure to use for the flour, sugar, oil and cocoa, is the same cup of yogurt (125 ml) with the amounts that I indicate.
When baking our chocolate sponge cake in the oven, it is important not to open it, so that the heat does not escape and so it bakes evenly.
When removing our sponge cake from the oven, we must let it cool and then unmold it.
Remember to wash and dry the yogurt cup very well before adding the ingredients.
Place the chocolate cake in the middle of the oven with heat up and down.
