- 150 g / 5.3 oz. of crispy bacon
- 300 g / 10.6 oz. of grated cheddar cheese
- 500 ml / 16.9 fl. oz. of hot milk (not boiling)
- 60 g / 2.11 oz / 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 60 g / 2.11 oz / 4 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
How To Make It
Step 1: We begin preparing our mac and cheese with bacon. To do this, we add water to a pot and bring it to a boil. Once it is boiling, we add salt and macaroni and cook for 8 minutes (or according to the package instructions).
Step 2: While the macaroni is cooking, let's prepare our cheese and bacon sauce. To do this, add the butter to a saucepan over medium heat and, once melted, add the flour. Mix until you obtain a roux or paste, then add the hot milk and stir continuously until you obtain a cream. Next, add the cheddar cheese and stir until it melts completely.
Step 3: Add a little salt, a little pepper, the crispy bacon (reserve a little for garnishing when serving), stir and turn off the heat.
Step 4: Add the macaroni to the cheese and bacon sauce and mix well, then serve on a plate, sprinkle some of the crispy bacon on top, and your delicious mac and cheese with bacon is ready to eat.
Tips To Prepare It
For this recipe, we use macaroni pasta, also known as elbow macaroni, but you can use other types of pasta if you prefer.
You can try other types of cheese that melt well, such as Gouda, mozzarella, Gruyère, or a mixture of several cheeses.
To obtain a delicious and creamy cheese sauce, it is recommended to use whole milk; however, you can use skim milk or even plant-based milk.
