Today we prepare some sweet arepitas that are all a vice, we start from the traditional recipe of arepas to which we will add anise and a melted made from paprika or panela that will give that sweet touch so characteristic, finally unlike the classic arepa, this one we will fry them instead of roasting them, follow our step by step videos and be sure to prepare this delicious recipe.
Ingredients
- 300 g. of precooked corn flour
- 200 g. of papelón / panela (sugar cane)
- 250 ml. of water
- 2 teaspoons of aniseed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
How To Make It
Step 1: We begin the preparation of our arepa with papelón, for this, in a pot with water over medium high heat, add the panela, let it cook until it dissolves completely, turn off the heat and let it cool.
Step 2: Then in a bowl add water, dissolved panela, aniseed, stir, add the flour, salt and begin to knead until a smooth and homogeneous dough is obtained.
Step 3: We take a portion of dough, form a kind of ball, then we flatten it and mold it to give it a circular shape as shown in the video.
Step 4: In a frying pan at medium temperature with oil, place the arepas and cook them for 5 minutes, then turn them over, cook them for 5 more minutes or until they are toasted on both sides and we can enjoy our delicious arepa with papelón.
Tips To Prepare It
To prepare arepa with papelón you can use either papelón block or papelón powder, although we always recommend the first option for a better result.
