Ingredients
- 1 cauliflower cut into florets
- 60 g. / 2.11 oz. butter
- 60 g. / 2.11 oz. all-purpose flour
- 500 ml. / 17 oz. of hot milk (not boiling)
- 50 g. / 1.7 oz. grated mozzarella cheese
- 100 g. / 3.5 oz. Parmesan cheese
- Nutmeg to taste
- Salt and pepper to taste
How To Make It
Step 1: We begin the preparation of our cauliflower au gratin, for this, in a pot with boiling water and a little salt, add the cauliflower and cook it for 8 to 10 minutes (the idea is to cook the cauliflower without overcooking it, it will finish cooking in the oven) then remove it from the water, let it drain very well and set aside.
Step 2: On the other hand we are going to prepare our béchamel sauce, for it, in a frying pan at medium temperature, we are going to place the butter until it melts, then we add the flour and with the help of a few rods, we stir without stopping until we form a roux (a kind of paste) then we add the hot milk and continue stirring until we obtain a thick texture, add the nutmeg, salt, pepper and mix, finally we add the grated mozzarella cheese, we let it melt completely and we remove from the fire.
Step 3: In a baking dish, add the cauliflower, then add the béchamel sauce on top, the Parmesan cheese and take our cauliflower to the oven to grill for 10 minutes or until it turns golden brown. Remove from the oven and our delicious cauliflower with béchamel sauce au gratin is ready.
