When we hear the word "Neapolitan" our mind goes directly to Italy, but this time we have to move to the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, which is where this famous Neapolitan milanesa recipe was originally born, which by the way is widely consumed both in that country and in Uruguay.
The Neapolitan milanesa was born in a restaurant called Nápoli of Jorge La Grota, where at the time they sought to create an original menu that combined other culinary cultures, in this case that of Italy, in principle it was a meat milanesa with a tomato sauce and basil, later and after the success of this milanesa, many restaurants began to copy it and were adding other ingredients such as ham, cheese, etc... Ingredients
- 4 sirloin steak, sliced very thinly
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 200 ml of crushed natural tomato
- 2 grated garlic cloves
- 1 beaten egg
- Breadcrumbs
- Sliced cooked ham
- Mozzarella cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
How To Make It
Step 1:
We begin the preparation of our Neapolitan style milanesa, for this, in a pot over medium heat, add oil and let it heat, then add the onion and 1 clove of garlic and cook for a couple of minutes.
Step 2:
Then add the tomato, salt and pepper and cook for 5 minutes.
Step 3:
In a bowl add the beaten egg, salt, the other clove of garlic, pepper and oregano and mix.
Step 4:
We take a sirloin steak, salt and pepper and pass it through the egg mixture and then breadcrumbs.
Step 5:
In a frying pan with oil at medium high temperature, we will fry our milanesas for about 6 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 6:
On a flat surface we place our milanesa and put on top the tomato sauce, ham and cheese and take to the oven with a temperature of 200 ºC / 392 °F for 10 minutes (or until gratin).
Step 7:
After the time in the oven, remove and we have our delicious Neapolitan milanesa ready.
Tips To Prepare It
If you do not have mozzarella cheese you can use another type of cheese as long as it is melting cheese.
