If Cuban gastronomy is famous for something, it is for its baked pork and its iconic sandwiches that are prepared with it, such as the classic Cuban sandwich and the famous sandwich de medianoche (midnight sandwich), which are basically the same sandwich but what varies is the type of bread used, the latter being a medianoche bread (hence its name) which is a semi-sweet bread that although it is not very easy to obtain, we can either prepare it at home or we can substitute it with a brioche type bread.
Ingredients
- Pan de medianoche (midnight bread)
- Pork loin to taste
- Ham to taste
- Cheese to taste
- Mayonnaise to taste
- Mustard to taste
- Pickles to taste
- 20 g butter to brown the bread
How To Make It
Step 1: We begin the preparation of our midnight sandwich, to do this we open our bread in half, add mayonnaise on one side and mustard on the other, fill with our pork, ham, cheese and pickles.
Step 2: Then in a frying pan add the butter, let it melt and place our sandwich, brown on both sides pressing against the pan, remove from heat and enjoy our sandwich de medianoche.
