The shortbread cookies are one of the easiest recipes that you can make if you are starting in baking, they are prepared with only 4 ingredients, butter, sugar, flour and egg, also these butter cookies are perfect for dipping in coffee and enjoy a tasty snack.
How to prepare it? Well, it basically consists of making a dough with our ingredients which we will let stand in the refrigerator to harden a little and it will be easier to handle them, as for its shape, we can make them from the most basic which would be round cookies, which we can do with a mold or simply with a glass or also use molds with figures like stars, hearts, Christmas figures ...

Ingredients
- 280 g. / 10 oz. all-purpose wheat flour
- 125 g. / 4.4 oz. butter at room temperature
- 125 g. / 4.4 oz. of sugar
- 1 egg
How To Make It
Step 1: We begin the preparation of our shortbread cookies, for this, in a bowl add the butter, sugar and with the help of an electric whisk, beat very well until both ingredients are blended, then add the egg and continue beating until blended.
Step 2: Add half of the flour and with the help of a spatula we integrate it, then add the other half and continue mixing until you get a homogeneous dough as you see in the video, form a kind of ball and cover with plastic wrap, take it to the freezer for 15 minutes.
Step 3: After 15 minutes, we remove our cookie dough from the freezer and then on a flat surface with parchment paper, we place our dough, flatten it a little with our hands and then we place parchment paper on top as I show you in the video and with the help of a rolling pin we begin to stretch our dough until we get half a centimeter thick.
Step 4: With the help of a mold (the one of your choice) we form our cookies and when finished, we remove the remaining dough and reserve it to repeat the process again until all the cookie dough is used up (see video).
Step 5: Place our shortbread cookies on a baking sheet and bake them for 13 minutes at 180 ºC / 356 °F. After the baking time, remove our cookies from the oven and let them rest on the same tray for 5 minutes without handling them (it is important not to handle the cookies when they come out of the oven to prevent them from breaking). After these minutes, place the cookies on racks, let them cool completely and our delicious shortbread cookies are ready.
Tips To Prepare It
When you remove the shortbread cookies from the oven, it is important to let them rest without handling them, otherwise they could break.
Remember that the cookie dough should be put in the freezer for 15 minutes so that it hardens a little and is easier to handle.
If you like your shortbread cookies crunchier, stretch the dough to a thickness of 2 to 3 millimeters, if you like them softer, stretch the dough to a thickness of half a centimeter.
