As we have already mentioned in other recipes, Venezuelan empanadas are the main rival of the Venezuelan arepa and one of the star dishes of this country!
Empanadas are usually eaten for breakfast as well as for dinner, it is a crescent-shaped dough that can be filled with countless ingredients such as shredded beef, shredded chicken, ham or cheese, among others!
They are made in a very simple way and unlike empanadas from other countries, the Venezuelan empanadas are cooked fried and prepared with pre-cooked corn flour, the same flour used to prepare arepas!
Today we are going to show you how to prepare delicious Venezuelan meat empanadas, we are going to accompany them with a great garlic sauce, which is one of the sauces that usually accompany them, they also use other sauces such as their famous guasacaca (avocado based sauce) or cheese sauce or hot sauce!

Ingredients
- Dough for empanadas
- 400 gr. of minced beef
- 1/2 red bell pepper cut in small squares
- 1/2 green bell pepper cut in small squares
- 1 clove of garlic, chopped
- 1/2 tablespoon cumin
- 1/2 tablespoon of paprika powder
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil
How To Make It
Step 1: We begin the preparation of our Venezuelan beef empanadas, for this, in a frying pan at medium temperature we will add oil until hot, then add the garlic and onion and let it cook for a couple of minutes.
Step 2: Add the red bell pepper and the green bell pepper and let it cook for a few more minutes (6 minutes approximately).
Step 3: Add the minced beef, salt, pepper, cumin, paprika powder, mix and cook for 15 minutes.
Step 4: Now we are going to prepare our beef empanadas, for this on a flat surface, we will place a rectangular piece of plastic wrap (as I show you in the video) then place a medium sized ball of our dough, flatten it and with the help of your hands we will give it a circular shape.
Step 5: Add our meat filling on one side, then fold in half and with the help of a plate we will perfect the edges as I show you in the video.
Step 6: In a pan or pot with very hot oil, we will incorporate our empanadas and we will fry them until they take a golden color, remove from heat and we have our Venezuelan beef empanadas ready! enjoy!
